Here we can see the difference the raw

umber oil paint colour-wash makes to

the hull in comparison to the turret,

that has yet to receive the 'wash.

Once the colour-wash had been allowed to dry fully, the next step was to mask off

individual sections such as the filler caps, engine grilles and flotation screen, before

airbrushing some heavily thinned Lifecolor acrylics around these masked-off areas

around Lifecolor’s

Dark Sand Stone 1703

It’s clear to see in this photo just how much

the weathering process changes the look of the

base colour and the overall look of the vehicle

This little selection of oil paints are needed to mix up a colour to match Lifecolor’s Dark Sand Stone,

which was used to apply the initial layer of dust build-up

With the oil paints mixed to match the Dark Sand Stone colour that had been airbrushed on previously, it could

now be thinned with white-spirit and flowed around raised details and into panel lines etc., to add that extra

dimension to the dust effect
