GRAFFITI BRIDGE
Then it was time for the real fun.. Armed with
graffiti references as best as I could find, I set
about recreating the Czechoslovakian graffiti,
in many ways, the real reason behind the entire
project. Having enlarged the text and symbols
on my laptop screen, I began painting the visible
slogans with a 0000 brush, a good pair of reading
glasses, a large bottle of Erdinger beer and some
Humbrol gloss enamel, thinned with white spirit.
The final addition to the T-10M was a resin tank
commander (from Russian manufacturer 'Tank'),
very generously given to me by my old pal Mick
Jordan. These figures paint up nicely and add that
vital human dimension to a build. Tune in next time
when I tackle RPG Model's 1:35 T-80U – one of
the last of the Soviet Union's tank warriors – whose
big moment in history would, ironically enough,
turn out to be trying to halt and turn back the
people's will; not in Budapest or Prague but in
Moscow during the failed 1991 coup d'état. U

Head-on view of tarnished T-10,
complete with all manner of Nazi
type markings. These historical
references to the previous set of
totalitarian invaders must have
confused the Soviet conscripts, to
put it mildly
