Four men jailed for killing father-of-four in machete attack
Four men were yesterday jailed for life for murdering a father-of-four in a “vicious, terrifying and sustained
attack” with a machete in the street. Sajed Choudry, 42, suffered horrific injuries, including his skull being
hacked open, when he was attacked in November near his home in Blackburn, Lancashire. He died two
weeks after being hit on the side of the head. Preston Crown Court heard how his death came during a feud
between two families. Sadaqat Ali, 36, was found guilty of murder and attempted murder after an eight-
week trial, and was sentenced to a minimum of 32 years. The judge said he played the leading role in the
attack, which was “undoubtedly planned”. Sadaqat’s brother Rafaqat Ali, 38, was sentenced to a minimum
of 28 years. Their father-in-law Fazal Ilahi, 63, and Syed Ali Akbar, 45, were jailed for a minimum term of
20 years. The three were found guilty of murder and wounding with intent. The four men were all from
Blackburn.
