។ HÉLÈNE DARROZE AT
THE CONNAUGHT
The two Michelin-starred Hélène Darroze at
The Connaught has closed for a two-month
refurbishment.
Re-opening in mid-September, the
restaurant will celebrate its 10-year
anniversary with a new design by French
company Pierre Yovanovitch Architecture
d’Intérieur, which is updating the dining
room, incorporating a chef’s table and
installing a dedicated Armagnac Room.
The menu is also being refreshed, with
a sharper focus on British producers and
suppliers.

្ OLD DOG, NEW TRICKS
Bubbledogs on Charlotte Street has
undergone a makeover – working closely
with London-based designers Astridge.
The joint that managed to successfully
match gourmet hot dogs with grower
champagne has matured, with the
refurb helping to create a more refined
and contemporary wine bar. There is an
increased focus on approachable, hand-
selected grower champagnes, and the food
menu has been updated; joining new hot
dogs topped with the likes of aged beef
fat caramelised onions and horseradish
crème fraîche are cheesy Comté tater
tots; tempura onion petals with nori; and
cheeses from the Champagne region.

្ NEW RESIDENCY ON
HEDDON STREET
Magpie at 10 Heddon Street recently
closed, and now The Crown Estate and
restaurant consultancy Montana Fogg
have made the unit a space for chefs and
restaurateurs to test new concepts for
short periods of time.
First up are Chris Leach, formerly
of Kitty Fisher’s, Pitt Cue Co. and
Petersham Nurseries, and David Carter
of Smokestak. The pair will focus on
handmade pastas and in-house butchery
and charcuterie. “It will be an informal
vibe that is all about sharing good food
with great friends,” said Leach.
The Crown Estate’s Katerina Mercury
said: “In taking a more agile approach
to the 10 Heddon Street unit, we now
have the ability to invite more creative
partners on a short-term basis to add
fresh ideas to London’s dining scene.”
