happilyexplained thewayofthe world and thetyres I
have correspond to traditional sizes of 3.00x21inand
4.50 x18in. Heavyduty tubes inside themwill take
careofall we canthrow at the rubber.
As the bike is creeping towardsstanding on itsown
wheels for thefirst tim eever–don’tforgetthis hasn’t
beenarebuild, it’sbeen a‘let’sshove all theTriumph
bits Ihavetogethe r’ project–there’stimetoback
trac ktosome ofthebits thatwereleft as is while the
bigger picture wasattended to.Ihave aselection of
Triumphgearboxpartsand Ihope thereisabetter
gear selector quadrant in therethan Ihaveinplaceat
the moment. It has onlythe merest hintof splineage
on, certainlynot enough to holdagear leverinplace,
but the boxwithall suchbits in is at the backofthe
cupboard. I’m hoping the other handlebar clamp is in
theretoo,asIdid have apair butIcan onlyfind oneof
them... suchisthe fun of shiftingworkshops between
projects.Ialso knowthereisacarburettor lurking in
the cupboard.
It is also time to trytofind some of the bits I
knowIdon’t have,suchasrockerboxcaps, footrests,
akickstartand anexhaust system, plusarear
mudguard. If anyone has an oldrear alloymudguard
and wants to see it go toagood home...
Thereare afew bits that will have to be fabricated
and aDIY oil tank kit turned up asaTriumph one
would requiretoo much modification to make itfit,
thanks to the slimming of the sub-frame.Aseatwill
have to be made too,asIwant one inascrambles
style, but it will have to be slimmerat the front.
