MERCEDES-BENZ TRUCKS has

announced it is celebrating 40

years of Australian service plans

by introducing an improved

complimentary basic service plan on

key highway prime movers models

until September 30.

Eligible Mercedes-Benz highway

prime movers sold to approved

customers before September 30 this

year in Australia will be covered by a

generous Best Basic Service Plan for

five years or 800,000km, whichever

comes first.

Mercedes-Benz says it represents a

300,000km upgrade on the existing

complimentary servicing offer.

The new offer is available for

highway prime movers with a

90,000kg GCM or less, but may also

be available for heavier vehicles on

application.

Mercedes-Benz ref lects that when

it offered its first service plan for

trucks in Australia, the world was

celebrating the 10-year anniversary

of the moon landing, Sony released

something called the Walkman and

moviegoers were introduced to a

young Mel Gibson in Mad Max.

The company points out that the

1979 truck service plan concept was

soon imitated by other commercial

vehicle brands locally as customers

saw the benefits of such an

arrangement that made their lives

easier and added increased certainty.

Mercedes-Benz Truck and Bus

director, Michael May, says the

anniversary presented a great

opportunity.

“Some of our senior staff have

told me that our service plan

introduction was a big deal back in

1979,” he says.

“I was too young to notice at the

time, but I can tell you that our

current service plans are extremely

popular with our customers today

and make their lives a lot easier,”

May adds.

“It just made sense to celebrate

the 40th anniversary of Australian

service plans with this fantastic

offer that makes owning a Mercedes-

Benz truck an even smarter business

decision.”

The new offer includes the Best

Basic service plan, but customers

will also be able to upgrade to the

Complete service plan for a reduced

rate until September 30.
