THE VIEW’S

DRAMA

S

itting on the panel from 2013 to
2014, Jenny McCarthy’s stint on
The View was brief — and
“miserable.” “You know the movie
Mommie Dearest? I remember as
a child watching that movie and going,
‘Holy cow!’ I’d never seen a woman yell
like that before until I worked with
Barbara Walters!” Jenny said in the book
Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside
Story of The View, adding that the
veteran journalist, who launched the talk
show in 1997, once screamed at her for
seven minutes for claiming autism could
be cured. “I went back to my dressing

room not knowing what the f**k to do.
One of my heroes just chewed me a new
a**hole, and I’m going on live TV.”
Jenny, 46, also said that there were
times Barbara, 89, would force her to
change her outfit before going on stage,
especially if it didn’t complement her own.
“I always had to put on a sweater,” shared
Jenny. “There were times when she’d say
change, and she’d make people run out
and get that dress in her size!” It
eventually got so bad that the blonde
beauty began avoiding the show’s creator
at all costs. “When I’d hear the shuffle of
her feet, I knew that Barbara was after

me,” Jenny recalled. “Based on the speed
of the shuffle, I would hide or get on the
phone!”
Jenny also had issues with cohost
Whoopi Goldberg, 63. “Whoopi had an
addiction to controlling people’s
thoughts, their words, the room, the
table, your feelings, your mood,” shared
Jenny, calling the Oscar winner’s voice
“strong” in sound and meaning. “I was
able to get a point out in three words —
like ‘I don’t agree’ — and that’s all I would
be able to say. I would be stepped on or
interrupted.” Whoopi, she added, “had an
addiction to controlling all of it.”

Candace vs. Raven

A

bitter bust-up over a wedding cake turned Candace Cameron Bure, 43, and
Raven-Symone, 33, into enemies! In July 2015, the ladies took their seats at
the table to discuss an Oregon bakery’s decision to refuse service to a
lesbian couple. But things went haywire when ultraconservative Christian
Candace disagreed with Raven’s comments that the bakery was being
discriminatory toward the couple’s sexual orientation. “This is about freedom of
association [and] constitutional rights,” the Full House alum shot back, arguing
that the wedding may have gone against the bakery’s religious beliefs. But
Raven — who in 2014 shared that was she was in a relationship with a woman —
wasn’t having it. “I refuse to associate with you right now,” she told Candace,
declining to take the conversation any further.
