Wireless
Charging in
Campervans
Alfatronix is a traditional
UK manufacturer of AC/DC
voltage converters and power
supplies. Around 4 years ago they began
manufacturing USB chargers and have seen sales grow massively.
At the beginning of this year they launched a new range of Wireless
chargers. There are two DC versions, a table top unit (AL3) and also
an integrated unit (AL1) which can be installed within furniture and
dashboards etc. They are manufactured in the UK, have E marking
for the automotive market and are offered with a 3-year warranty.
They have had very positive feedback from campervan converters, as
it’s something that people don’t really consider until they see one in
action and begin thinking about the endless possibilities.
Campervan Culture have a
new ARB awning
A little fed up with all of the ‘plastic caravan stuff ’ that is
currently available for buses, Campervan Culture now offer
something specifically designed for harsh Outback conditions,
their awnings are rugged but lightweight and provide fast and
convenient protection from the elements
The shade cover is manufactured from 300 gsm PU coated poly/
cotton ripstop canvas to ensure that the awning is both waterproof
and UV protected, and the self standing awning takes just 30 seconds
to deploy. It is secured in a heavy duty nylon reinforced PVC bag and
mounts easily to the side of most roof racks or roof bars as well as
CC’s own custom made gutter mount fitting kit. The awning height
is adjustable with telescopic legs. CC can also hook you up with add
on safari rooms, with or without built in floors and add on side wind
breaks which greatly extend the useable space and provide privacy.
Various packages are available for fitment to almost any
VW campervan.

A Glimpse of the Future?
Sarah England, from Loughborough University has
designed this concept camping stove. “Using a camping
stove inside a tent involves the risks of carbon monoxide
poisoning and is a potential fire hazard. This concept provides
a safer option while cooking either inside or outside the tent.
A self contained gas stove uses pods which are placed outside
the tent. One pod draws air in and the other, vents the exhaust
gases. Since the flame is contained, there is no risk of igniting
the flammable canvas. It uses a rechargeable battery that
provides 8 hours of power for the fans. It also incorporates
several safety features, including a pan shut-off valve and a
flame supervision device to ensure a safer experience. To enable
convenient travel, all equipment required for cooking can be
stored inside the body of the stove, including 28 & 20 cm pans,
chopping boards and detachable handles...”
It’s a completely new way of looking at outdoor cookery, and
I can see this technology finding its way into built in campervan
stoves.
