NZ Performance Car: Hi, Victoria. Tell us about your history with
cars and modifying.
Victoria: Hey, team. I’ve owned a few cars, but, other than putting wheels on
and sticking on bodykits, this Skyline was the first car on which I went and had
engine work done. My first car was a P11 Nissan Primera — SR20DE, manual —
that was lowered on springs and had some aftermarket 17-inch wheels. I thought
that was a sick first car, but it wasn’t the Skyline I wanted. Next, I briefly owned
an R32 sedan, which was stolen and recovered, then had two Toyota Levins,
but Toyotas weren’t my buzz, so I saved enough money to buy the car I always
wanted: an R32 Skyline.

What was it that drew you to the R32?
They just look amazing; I can’t get bored of looking at them. The sound of an
RB is just unique; it’s the best sound. They’re so classic and iconic, people love
them, and everyone knows someone that had a R32 Skyline ‘back in the day’.
Easy to find parts for, ’cause they’re all getting wrecked, which then makes the
running ones special. They’re getting rare, so I wanted to get my hands on one.

What was the goal at the start, and how did that develop?
I wanted to keep it factory; I thought it would retain more value that way. I soon
got bored with that idea once I found out how slow it was on the track. Having
been around mates with modified R32 GT-Rs for a long time, I noticed they
would all go see one guy: Ethan from Hi-Power Performance. So once I set my
mind to it, I asked Ethan to do my ‘plus T’ conversion. The car was in and out
with a tune in less than two weeks. It’s also had full GTS-T brakes added and
a five-stud upgrade, as well as adjustable suspension and a coupe rear-end
conversion that I carried out by myself at home.

How does it perform compared with what you’ve driven before?
The first turbo car I ever drove was a 400kW R32 GT-R. I can confirm it is so
much more satisfying driving your own car that you’ve poured your heart and
bank account into than some fast car someone bought to flex with. I love my car;
I have a lot of fun in it and it keeps me happy, so, to me, it performs exceptionally.

Can’t get any better than that, Victoria. Cheers for the yarn.
