was responsible for laying down the layers and layers of deep Porsche
Viola. Even Elliot admits that the process went further than was necessary,
although the EG has wound up looking all the better for it. When was the
last time you saw a track car this clean being driven in full anger? It’s better
than most show cars currently in rotation.
Once the recipe was finalized and the baking done, this cake is
ready for its first shakedown to weed out any teething issues before
heading straight into stints in the North Island Endurance Series (NIES)
and Production Race Series — perhaps even the Honda Cup. The cup,
however, would mean the car would need to receive a ballast, and Elliot isn’t
too keen on that, considering the effort that has gone into getting the car
this light. One thing we can be sure of is that, with no plates and nowhere to
be driven other than the track, the Civic will be driven, and it will be driven
hard — exactly as a big block Honda should be. If that’s not having your
cake and eating it too then we don’t know what is.
