The School of Chemistry and
Chemical Engineering (SCCE)
at Nanjing University (NJU) is

amongst the oldest colleges and de-
partments in China. The Chemistry
Department can be traced back to
1920, and was later amalgamated

by the Chemistry Department of
the former Central University and
the Chemistry Department of the
former Jinling University. SCCE
was set up in 1993, and is now

composed of three departments:

● Department of Chemistry
● Department of Chemical

Engineering
● Department of Polymer
Science and Engineering

SCCE has 161 faculty members,
including 109 full professors, 4
members of the Chinese Acad-
emy of Sciences, 13 Chang
Jiang Scholars of Ministry of
Education (MOE), 20 winners of
National Science Foundation of
China (NSFC) fund for Distin-
guished Young Scholars. SCCE
has a student body of about
1,680, of which
are 430 under-
graduate students
and near 1,250
MSc and Ph.D.
students.
SCCE has a state
key discipline,
and hosts the State
Key Laboratory of Coordination
Chemistry, the State Key Labo-
ratory of Analytical Chemistry
for Life Science, the Key Labo-
ratory of Mesoscopic Chemistry
of Ministry of Education and the
Key Laboratory of High Perfor-
mance Macromolecule Materials
and Technology of Ministry of
Education. It is authorized to con-
fer degrees in 1 Ph.D. program, 1
master program and 2 undergrad-
uate programs.
SCCE has a strong tradition in
research. Over 40 members of the
Chinese Academy of Sciences
once studied or worked in the
school. More than 140 awards
including the National Science

Award and the Ministerial and
Provincial Awards have been won
by SCCE. It has become one of
the most attractive and competitive
bases for personnel cultivation and
scientific research in the country.
SCCE has established extensive
international cooperation and
academic exchanges with foreign
institutions. It has hosted and
sponsored a number of interna-
tional conferences, symposiums
and workshops on various topics.
Many world leading chemists
including several Nobel laure-
ates have been invited to present
lectures. Faculty members have
been regularly invited to give
plenary and keynote talks in the
international conferences and
symposiums.
SCCE seeks outstanding facul-
ty candidates in the following
research fields:

● Inorganic Chemistry,
● Analytical Chemistry,
● Organic Chemistry,
● Physical Chemistry,
● Polymer Chemistry and Physics,
● Applied Chemistry,
● Chemical Biology

Consideration will be given to
candidates at all levels of faculty
positions, including tenured full/
associate professors and ten-
ure-track assistant professors.

Qualified faculty candidates
should have a Ph.D. in a relevant
discipline, post-doctoral experi-
ence with an extensive publication
record in high quality journals,
a commitment to excellence in
research and teaching, and the
ability to engage with broader
chemistry themes for the purpose
of achieving transformative and
translational research gains.
Competitive recruitment packag-
es are available with salary and
faculty rank based on qualitica-
tions. All newly hired tenured
faculty members will be provided
sufficient startup resources and
necessary research infrastructures.
Annual salaries for assistant
professors will be commensu-
rate with work experience and
research performance.
Qualified applicants are asked to
send the following documents:

● Cover letter
● Curriculum Vitae with
Publication list
● Teaching statement
● Research statement
● Two or more reference letters
(the signed letter to be submitted
by the reference writers by email)
