“I convinced
my brother to ask
my parents for HBO
Now as a birthday
gif t so I could
use it.”

What’s the fate of live TV? Dan Rayburn, a streaming video expert and analyst
at Frost & Sullivan, broke it down for us. Basically, live TV is not going away, thanks to one
major thing: sports. Companies like the NFL and MLB have contracts worth big bucks.

There’s way more
to Disney than
cartoon princesses.
The best of Pixar,
Marvel, and Star
Wars movies will
live here as one
big happy family.
Plus brand-new TV
shows and movies,
à la Netflix.

This service will live
within the Apple TV
app you probs
already have on
your phone, so it’ll
be easy to access
while you’re, like,
stuck at the airport
during yet another
delay. (But you’ll
pay an extra fee for
the Plus content.)

So, you’ll get HBO
content (hi, Game
of Thrones), major
blockbusters, and
the big DC super-
hero movies (Chris-
tian Bale as Batman
is the only Batman
we accept).

Since the com-
pany owns all the
NBC shows and
Universal movies,
there will be tons
of stuff to watch.
(The service itself
is still nameless,
BTW.)

Besides the

got The Simpsons
and every new
Disney movie
streaming here
~exclusively~.

Plus is all about
originals, so the
advantage to this
streamer is kinda
TBD, but it’s Apple
and it’s original
content. Chances
are, it’ll be good.

Highlights should
include HBO
classics, like Sex
and the City and
Entourage, your
best films (A Star
Is Born, anyone?!),
and the crown
jewel: Friends.

I t s h o u l d h a v e a l l
your NBC s,
including SNL
and The Office,
and big Universal
franchises like
The Purge, Fifty
Shades, and Fast
and Furious.

High School Musi-
cal is coming back
as a TV show, and
Disney is launching
the first-ever Star
Wars TV series,
The Mandalorian.
Your dad will
be pumped.

The celebs are
coming thru with
shows starring
Reese Wither-
spoon, Jennifer
Aniston, Jason
Momoa, and none
other than Oprah.
Oprah!

Kaley Cuoco,

and Ansel Elgort
are among the
stars who’ve
signed on to
new projects,
from rom-coms to
true-story thrillers.

No announced
plans (yet!) for
original content,
but expect it to
launch before the
2020 Summer
Olympics, just in
time for Hot Swim-
mer programming.

$6.99 a month
or $69.99 a
year, which is
insanely low.

tends to be
expensive!

Rumor is that
it’ll cost $16 or
$17 a month.

You’ll reportedly
b e a b l e t o s u b -
scribe for about
$10 a month.

I f y o u’r e T h a t G i r l
who knows all the
words to “Colors
of the Wind,” this
one has your name
written all over it.

All we know so far
is that it’ll have new
shows we’ve never
seen. Consider us
intrigued!

We want it! This
one could change
the game, based
on how much
content and $$$
it has.

Honestly, worth it for
The Office alone...
and did we mention
Hot Swimmer

“I used my

Your guide to the newbs

Okay, what about the love of our lives, Netflix? Netflix is the Regina George of
streaming, having lit-er-a-lly invented binge watching. But Rayburn says some of its rivals might start
to outpace it because, well, they have Toaster Strudel heiress money. “They can afford to lose money
on original shows because they can make it up somewhere else,” Rayburn says. Disney’s a perfect
example. It can make money in so many different ways: cruises, theme parks, toys, etc. Netflix makes
money only one way. Don’t panic yet, but soak up those Netflix weekends while you can.
