hecanspendmoretimewriting,
drawingandmakingbooksfeaturing
someoftheartistshehasmeton
his travels. He’d also like to organize
artistic/cultural trips to Africa. In the
past,hehasruna summerprogram
thatbroughtMICAstudentstoCape
VerdeandSãoTomé.
“They’dbasicallycomewithme
anddrawa bit,andalsoenjoythe
cultureofthosecountries,”theartist
says.“I’dadvertisemyselfasa bridge,
sharingthethingsI findandlike
withothers.WhetherI’mmaking
a bookortraveling,I’mtryingto
serveasa bridgebetweencultures.”
Stefanie Laufersweiler is a freelance
writer and editor living in Cincinnati.
“Particularly in Africa, it’s only the kids who normally draw.
In all of these countries, I know adults who can draw very
well, but sometimes they’re just lacking materials or are doing
something else because they have to make a living.”
