shared many destinations with herfam-

family. She was an avid gardenerand

Don,aveteran of the Army,worked
at the Gillette Safety Razor Company
for nearly 40 years, working his way
throughthe ranks to the position of
Vice President in chargeofResearch
and Development.Hejoked thathe
spent his careerperfecting “theremoval
of unwanted bodyhair.”
Don was the second to youngest
of 11 children.He is survived by his
younger brother,Kenneth Chaulk and
his wifeSally.Don’s parents, Ernest
Chaulk andSarah CookeChaulk
precededhim in death, as did his 4
sisters Lois, Viola,June, Christine, and
5brothersWalter,Jerry,Frank, Ralph,
Lawrence.
Don was adevoted husband,father,
brother, andgrandfather. He was be-
loved by all whoknewhim forhis quick
wit,his generous spirit,and hisabiding
lovefor his family.Hewanted people
to knowseveral things abouthim:
He lovedhis family aboveall. He was
extremelygratefulfor thewonderfullife
he led.Helived most of his life withhis
bestfriend.He was veryproudto have
servedhis country in the Army.

tractual basis, an additional14years
for atotal of 56 years.Oneofthe high-
lights of his earlyprofessionalcareer
was providingaeronauticalengineer-
ing supportonateamthatsuccessfully
converted GE horizontal jetengines to
vertical jetenginesusedin the lunar
landingresearchvehiclethusenabling
astronautsto hover in space.Chet also
worked on Presidentialhelicopterjet
engines.Membershipsat GE included
the ManagementAssociation &the
ElfunSociety.
Theday after graduating fromMel-
rose High School,he &several friends
enlisted in theUnited States Army
servinginthe OccupationalForces of
WWII.Most of Chet’s tour of dutywas
spentin Leghorn,Italy.
Followingdischargefrom theArmy,

he graduated fromNortheastern Uni-
versity. An avid conservationist,Chet
served on boththeMelrose&Boxford
Conservation Commissions for overa
decadeineachcommunity.Inaddi-
tion, he was Treasurerof St.Roseof
Lima(Topsfield) St.Vincent de Paul
Societyfor severalyears.All outdoor
sports wereenjoyedincludingswim-
ming,hockey,skiing&golf.Striving
for theperfect, weed-free lawn was a
constant challenge; askillacquired
fromworking for the locallandscaper
duringhis high school years. Extensive
travel was also enjoyed.
Chet is survived by his devoted
wife,Barbara A. (Latshaw) Riley, his
