80 SUPER CHEVY SEPTEMBER^2019These studs are installed next, as shown.
We suggest using antiseize on the stud
threads to prevent them from becoming
hopelessly stuck in the aluminum heads.5TECH ONE BELT TO RULE THEM ALL
The Chevrolet Performance front dress
package includes this new OEM-style
pancake compressor, which consumes
less power than those classic Frigidaire
wobble-plate types. It consumes
less space, too. The good news is this
compressor will work with aftermarket
A/C systems, such as Vintage Air.9Two bolts secure the compressor. These
fasteners don’t require a torque wrench.
Just get the bolts tight.10The air-conditioning/idler pulley bracket
is installed next. You can install this
bracket as is or clean up the rough
casting with a grinder and paint or
powdercoat it.6The serpentine belt tensioner is next and
is easy to manipulate when it’s time to
install the belt.11All of your fasteners should get a dose
of threadlocker in the interest of bolt
security. Chevrolet Performance has
already applied threadlocker to this
fastener. One less thing to think about.12The power steering pump and bracket
assembly is installed next. Again,
you don’t need a torque wrench, just
common sense and knowing when
enough is enough. This one gets a Torx
fastener.13Chevrolet Performance fits its serpentine
front dress with an ACDelco 105-amp
alternator (PN 19152464), which is suitable
for most applications. Note, if you’re
running a lot of electronics you may need
to up your alternator output.14Next is the serpentine belt idler pulley
assembly, which is installed as shown.7Here’s the air-conditioning compressor
bracket and idler pulley package
installed, and this is the way yours
should look.8
