Nikita Nelin of Seattle won the Prize in
Nonfiction for his essay “The Taste of
It.” They each received $1,000 and their
works were published in the 2019 issue of
Dogwood. Lia Purpura judged in poetry
and nonfiction, and Phil Klay judged in
fiction. The annual awards are given for
a poem, a short story, and an essay.

won the 2019 Short Memoir Prize for
“Fejira* // *to cross.” She received €1,000
(approximately $1,130) and publication
in the 2019 Fish Anthology. Chrissie
Gittins judged. The annual award is
given for an essay. The next deadline is
January 31, 2020.
