PLASTIC SWEAR JAR
The objective of Changing Tides is to
bring awareness to the amount of single-
use plastics purchased and used in our
daily lives by creating accountability. For
the purposes of this challenge, a ‘swear’
is each time you use, or purchase, a
single-use plastic item.
Over the last three years, the
challenge has grown immensely, and
this year the challenge saw hundreds
of participants from all over the globe
taking part – including Stephanie
Gilmore (7x World Surfi ng Champion),
Tatiana Weston- Webb (professional
surfer), Liz Clark (adventurer, activist and
CTF board member) and Leah Dawson
(professional surfer, fi lmmaker and CTF
co-founder).
You and your friends can also take
part; the rules are as follows:
- Designate a container as your
#PlasticSwearJar and decorate it so that
it’s obvious what it’s for. - Keep track of all of your ‘swears’ each
day – on your phone, IOU’s or whatever
works for you. - For each ‘swear’, place $1/£1 (or
whatever feels fair) into the jar, then
send your funds to the CFT crowdrise.
