Slam Magazine – September 2019

(Elle) #1
The Toronto Raptors are the 2019 NBA
Finals Champions! But KD only played 12
minutes in the whole series, but Klay got
hurt, but Boogie, Iggy and Looney weren’t
100 percent, but Curry was gassed... I won-
der what that ring is gonna smell like?
It’s me again from your last two NBA
preview issues’ Trash Talks. I’m not throw-
ing shade at Kawhi or Drizzy, but it is 11
p.m. and I just got done watching the Finals
with what seems like the biggest, baddest,
most gangsta tatted Canadians the Texas
penitentiary could find. I mean, they must
be from Canada the way they cheered
(prayed) for the Warriors downfall.
Darrell Brown aka DToxx, Woodville, TX
It’s not fun to admit, but every season is ba-
sically a last-man-standing-from-a-health-
perspective competition. This ring counts
the same as any other ring.—Ed.

Man, some of y’all crazy! When he was in high school,

folks said, “Oh, he won’t do that in college”—lol, Player

of the Year. Now some of you still doubt the kid! All he

does is win! Good luck, kid—those that can’t, hate!

You’re a GOAT. I also have no idea what
you’re talking about.—Ed.

I want to thank you for continuing to pro-
duce great articles as well as stories for the
younger generation. I also wanted to clear
up the debate about who’s the GOAT. Why
do we only mention Jordan, Kobe and LeB-
ron? Magic went to the Finals nine times
and won five in a shorter time span than
any of them. Secondly, why do we not men-
tion Tim Duncan? Because power forwards
and centers don’t count? Do you honestly
believe Shaq wouldn’t have won with just
about anyone at the time they won three
straight? What’s really crazy is that Pippen
gets overlooked; you don’t remember...Jor-
dan couldn’t stop Magic so they put a longer
and better defender on him. Of course, Bird,
he’s Mr. Clutch. For me, top 5 all-time would
have to be M. Jordan, T. Duncan, L. James,
K. Durant, R. Westbrook.
Thank you for all that you do. Keep it up.
Shout out to D-Wade, the most underrated
guard in NBA history.

Y’all got rid of NOYZ? Guess you’re just
gonna spread the smack talk throughout
the entire issue now.
@everydamnslam, Torrance, CA
Nah, nah. There’s no NOYZ in the Future
Issue because there’s no formal sections in
the Future Issue. It’s back now tho.—Ed.

It’s ya boy Ousmane out of Bamako, Mali,
currently living in Kinshasa, DRC, deadass
basketball fan as long as I remember. Fell in
love with SLAM in 2012, love Trash Talk, the
articles on retired ballers and streetball.
I’ve traveled a lot and had the opportunity
to play in many places. Trust me, basketball
is global. You got off-the-hook players in
every city on the map. And I tell you, Africa
is the future. You guys should cover Africa
more. I’m a 6-1 D guy, can’t nobody beat me
on D. Much love for Pat Beverley, he’s taking
D to another level! My No. 1 offensive player
would be Melo, though the game has been
unfair to him. Hopefully he returns soon.
Kudos to the Raptors and Kawhi.
Ousmane Dicko, Bamako, Mali
