SOCIETYStonewall Park The centre of Kent’s
social solar system is in Edenbridge,
where Rupert and Catherine Fleming’s
drawing room – now boasting newly
painted canary-yellow walls – is always
host to lots of other Flemings, such
as Benjama and Rory. The Earl and
Countess of Hopetoun, and Kilks
and Miles Montgomerie, are also
all regulars.
Barnbougle Recently revamped,
Lord Dalmeny’s Barnbougle Castle
on the Rosebery Estates is where
arty sorts are to be found. The draw-
ing room’s gilded interiors are said to
be where Martha, Lady Sitwell and
the taxidermist Emma Hawkins
congregate come nightfall.

the Marquess and Marchioness of
Cholmondeley include the Earl and

Marina), the Hon Sophia Hesketh
and, until recently, the Cambridges.
Somerleyton Suffolk socialites swoon
when they pass the enormous stuffed
polar bears in the hall to make it
into Lord and Lady Somerleyton’s
drawing room. Davina and Tom
Barber are great friends, as are the
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,
who pop down from Anmer Hall –
after all, nothing leaves these wood-
panelled walls.if wallscouldtalkPHOTOGRAPH: INSTAGRAM/@HOUGHTON_HALL; DYLAN THOMAS36 Tatler July 2019 tatler.com07-19BYST-DRAWINGROOMS.indd 36 08/05/2019 14:52
