Designer Speak

Wheredidyoustudydesignfrom?
I have studied Industrial Design at Bezalel Academy of
Art and Design in Jerusalem.

What prompted you to choose sustainability?
I believe that if we do not act now and integrate
sustainability into our day-to-day life the planet that we
live on will be in a bad situation. I choose to increase
the awareness to sustainability by using sustainable
materials in my work and in that way try to teach people
how to live in a more sustainable way.

What are the products that you offer?
I design and manufacture lamps made of materials
originated from nature. At the studio we develop
materials resulting in light fixtures; lamps such as the
‘Desert Storm’ - lamps made of sand, ‘Marine light’ -
lamps made of seaweed, and ‘Mycelium lights’ - lamps
made of fungi. Carefully selected materials, often raw
and wild, are shaped into clean-cut forms, creating
innovative products that play on the tension between
the domesticated and the untamed.

How do you sell them?
At the moment the pieces I make are not mass produced
and are sold as an art object. I hope that in the near
future people and technology will make it possible to make this product more
available and you will be able to find them ineveryhome.
Where does your design
inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from
nature. Many of my designs
are inspired from the world of
plants and I try to use natural
materials in many of my works.
