Emma & Chris Penny
The force was most certainly with Auckland couple Emma and
Chris as they wed at Howick Historical Village on May 4. “My
husband is a huge Star Wars fan, so we decided to hire storm-
troopers from charity organisation Outpost 42 to join in our
awesome day,” Emma shares. “For both Chris and I, besides
from spending the day celebrating with our family and friends,
the most memorable moment was the first look. Chris stood with his
back turned and stormtroopers either side of him while a third walked me
down the aisle. When I reached Chris, I turned him around so he could see
me in my dress − there was so much love and happiness in that moment.”
MIND YOUR MANNERS
On a recent visit to see our
precious grandson, I had cause
to remind him not to forget his
manners. As I patiently waited
and looked at him, he turned
to me and said in a very quiet
voice, “I’m just giving my tongue
a rest.” I’m still not exactly sure
how much energy is required
to say “Thank you!”

FIND YOUR FEET
One wet, wintry day, my three-
year-old granddaughter put
on her gumboots to go for a
walk. When I told her she had
them on the wrong feet, she
cried, “But these are the only
feet I have!”

MIXED MESSAGE
Five-year-old Katie had been
misbehaving, so Mum sent her
to her room. Dad went in and
suggested that while there, she
should practise her handwriting,
which was what she was learning
at school. Miss Five looked
thoughtful and Dad was happy
his suggestion was so well
received. Half an hour went by
and Miss Five reappeared with
a note, it read, “Dear Mummy,
I hate you, Love from Katie.”

TOLL CALL
I rang my son’s house and my
grandson Dylan answered
the phone. I thought we could
have a nice chat but after two
minutes, he said, “Nana, can I
go now? The phone’s heavy.”
