In town recently for the opening of her exhibition,

Guo Pei: Chinese Art and Culture, at the Asian

Civilisations Museum, Guo Pei presented her trunk

collection to a select group of 20 at a private show

hosted by Prestige Singapore and Susanna Han.

Held at the latter’s palatial home, the exclusive

event showcased 60 of Guo Pei’s sumptuous designs

that demonstrate her flair for matching intricate

embroidery to luxurious fabrics. Her fashion goes

beyond style; it is a cultural reference, and her

creations are a unique blend of contemporary and

traditional designs, materials and craftsmanship.

Little wonder, then, that guests made a beeline to

try on the pieces – which ran the gamut from

cheongsams to day, cocktail and evening wear –

immediately after the presentation. While mulling

over their favourite designs before placing an order,

guests leisurely sipped Perrier-Jouët champagne

and nibbled on delicate, Asian-inspired canapés by

Chef Tim Meijers of Tim’s Fine Catering.
