Politics in educational institutions helps to create
leaders for the future. Eminent personalities such as
our Vice President Venkaiah Naidu or former British
Prime Minister David Cameron received political
grooming at universities. Further, a democracy
needs a culture of debate and participation
cultivated at university level. It can help imbibing
traits of civic responsibility and accountability
among students. However, such politics must be
regulated to prevent it from turning partisan or
rowdy. The prime focus on academics must
never be compromised.

Not at all, I myself love politics, and the moment
we say ‘banned’ it doesn’t sound fair. Politics is not
something that everyone gets involved in; it’s not
a necessity or compulsion to participate in politics.
I don’t think it should be banned in educational
institutions, since it’s always good to know
what’s going on around us.

There is no point in indulging politics in educational
institutions because corrupt politicians try to involve
students in certain activities for their political
advantage. The recent example is that of JNU (Delhi)
where some students supported the government, and
others did not. The student community was divided
into two groups which created unrest in the Institute. I
feel the government should make it a policy that if any
student is found too much involved in political affairs,
he/she will be sent out from their respective
institutes.

I completely disagree with this. Even with the
presence of politics in educational institutes many
students do not know the difference between PM, CM
and Governor of a State, and when asked who is who
in governments, they chant the same name. Politics
shapes a student’s thinking and makes him/her more
responsible, mature and imbues in him/her
better civic sense.

In recent years, there has been a spurt in political
activities carried out in educational Institutions,
destroying the atmosphere for learning. I feel
party politics should be banned from educational
institutions. The purpose of education is holistic
development of an individual’s personality and
character which is the foundation of nation-
building.

Politics should be banned from educational
institutions as it is harmful for the future of the
students. Students who engage in politics at a
very young age lose their focus on studies and
their academic performances deteriorate. Also, the
presence of politics in educational institutions leads to
unhealthy competition among students which is very
harmful to society.

Yes, I strongly believe that politics, particularly party
politics, should be banned from educational institutes
as it is a hindrance in the process of learning. It is
a burden on the students; there should be freedom
of which political party one chooses without any
pressure. Most of the students want to focus on
their careers and are least interested in politics, but
regardless are dragged into politics without having a
taste for it which is injustice according to freedom of
choice. Vandalism and violence become the
rule of the day, due to excessive involvement
of students in party politics.

In a democratic country like India, politics in
educational institutions cannot be banned. In my
opinion, politics should not be given much importance
in educational institutions. The political wars and
disturbances affect the learning environment of an
educational institution. Hence, politics should
be kept away from our educational systems.

Yes, politics should be banned from educational
institutions. Political leaders exploit the students
