Top 100 Prospects play their way

This year saw one such case,
this time attributable to the
Double-A adjustment.
Blue Jays shortstop Kevin
Smith ranked No. 91 on the pre-
season Top 100 Prospects, but he
lost his place in line with a disas-
trous first half at Double-A New
Hampshire. Through 53 games
he hit .176/.250/.322 with six
home runs and a strikeout rate
bordering on 30 percent.
Strikeouts are nothing new
for Smith, a 2017 fourth-rounder
from Maryland, but his pro-
