latestlaunchraisesthebarsignificantly,not
justin termsofimage resolutionbutin other
keyareas,notablyitsAFsystem.
Withmirrorlesscamerasgenerallyoffering
asmallerandmorecompactalternativeto
DSLRs,thelargesensorwithintheGFX 100
meansthe oppositeis true.Thedesignand
sizeof theGFX 100 's bodyis similarto thatof
apro-DSLR, whichisimpressiveconsidering
thelarge sensorithouses,alongwitha
body-integralimage stabilisationsystem.
Buildqualityis excellent,withrubberised
panelsaroundmuchof thebodyprovidinga
firmhold.Whilethehandgripis pronounced
andtexturedto givea firmgrip,thesamecan't
besaidforthelarge verticalgrip(housingtwo
batteries and additional controls) that aidsusingit in portrait
format.Itisthinnerand
lacksa texturedpanel,andthesmoothfinish
doesn'tfeelas secureto hold.On theplus
side,thereareagoodnumberofsecondary
controls,includinga shutterreleaseandinput
dials,although thelackofmarkings onsome
of thebuttonsmakesrememberingwhat
they'reusedfora potentialissue.
Thecontrollayoutasa wholetakessome
gettingusedto,withlotsofbuttonsand
dialslocatedaroundthebody.Evenasan
experiencedphotographer,Ifoundit took
sometimeacclimatisingmyselfwiththe
set-up,especiallyasa numberofbuttons
havenomarkingsastheyoffercustomisable
options.Fastaccesstokeyfunctionsis

locatedonthe thumbrest.

wealthofinformation, with neat secondaryscreenssuchasahistogramaccessedby the
buttonalongsideit.On therearis a large
