Finally it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance
for Brenda to pursue her lifelong dream
of acting that drove them apart at the end
of season 4. When she was accepted at
London’s prestigious Royal Academy of
Dramatic Art, Brenda left Southern Califor-
nia, and Dylan, behind for good.
The London story line not only allowed
the Beverly Hills, 90210 producers to end
Doherty’s work on the series—which
had long been beset by reports of behind-
the-scenes trouble—but also capped off
her character’s emotional growth from
high school mean girl to ambitious young
adult. “We all evolve,” Doherty told E W.
“We all grow up. We all change. Sometimes
TV wants to keep people exactly the same,
and that’s not always true to real life.”
