with Dylan and Brandon kept the drama
flowing on 90210 for 10 seasons. Kelly’s
affair with Dylan, which began as a sum-
mer fling while Brenda was in Paris, was a
monstrous betrayal of a bestie. The story
line “was a very hard sell to the network,”
producer Jessica Klein, who cowrote
the episode, told Entertainment Weekly.
“They were afraid we would ruin both
Brenda and Kelly—and possibly Dylan.”
But when Dylan chose Kelly over Brenda,
the audience cheered them on.
In season 5 it was Kelly’s turn to
choose: Dylan or Brandon? Brandon
offered a ring; Dylan offered a trip
around the world. But it was a stronger,
more mature Kelly who said, “I choose
me.” In the end, despite a narrowly avert-
ed season 8 walk down the aisle with
Brandon ( bride and groom both backed
out), Dylan won the last dance, and the
last kiss, as the final credits rolled.
