“My favorite local source of
great home decor is [interior
designer] Petra Richards’ stall
at SoBo Interiors,” says
photographer Emily Minton
Redfield. “She travels to and
curates pieces from Morocco
and China that have delight-
ful color and texture.” Redfield
found inspiration in spaces
that span the style spectrum
while shooting for this issue:
the dazzling dining room in
“True Colors” (page 23); the
charming office in “Sitting
Pretty” (page 54); and the
clean, classic home in “Design
Workshop” (page 68).

O’Shea-Evans
WRITER

When Kathryn O’Shea-Evans
chatted with Paralympian and
Dancing with the Stars alum
Amy Purdy about her Silver-
thorne fixer-upper (“Mountain
Aerie,” page 74), the writer came
away with a good tip: “Use dirt-
cheap electrical conduit tubing
to make stylish stairway rails—
brilliant!” O’Shea-Evans says.
When she needs a dose of
grand inspiration, the writer
loves to visit the United States
Air Force Academy’s Cadet
Chapel. “It just shakes me
up, it’s so beautiful,” she says.
O’Shea-Evans’ work also
appears in House Beautiful.

Q WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL SOURCE OF DESIGN INSPIRATION?

Julie Dugdale
WRITER

“I’m always a sucker for risky
design choices that become
brilliant focal points in a room,”
says writer Julie Dugdale, who
points to the unfinished-ply-
wood headboard in “Home
Made” (page 60) and the bold
combination of navy blue walls
and vibrant contemporary art
in “True Colors” (page 23)—
both of which Dugdale penned.
To spark her own inspiration,
Dugdale turns to the Makers
Market in Littleton, which she
calls a “brick-and-mortar Etsy.”
Find more of Dugdale’s work in
5280 , Breckenridge, and New
England Home magazines.

Natalie Warady
STYLIST

A seasoned photo stylist,
Natalie Warady knows a house
is more than just a building;
it’s the backdrop to people’s
lives. “My aim when styling [a
home] is to embrace the fam-
ily’s history,” she says. So she
was delighted to discover
photos and memorabilia from
the homeowners’ family inte-
grated into the rooms featured
in “Home Made” (page 60).
That love of detail also informs
her current go-to source of
inspiration: Animal Hand-
made, “whose [locally made]
handbag designs remind me
of modern [riffs on] Egyptian
hieroglyphics,” Warady says.
