1st//Franco DiMauro//L-59E Albatross
After winning the class last year with the same aircraft,
Franco defended his title again with his 1/3.5-scale L-59E
Albatross. Built from a Tomahawk Aviation kit, the L-59E is
powered by a JetCat 220 turbine engine and has a 110-inch
wingspan. Franco used a Spektrum DX20 radio and earned
a fi nal score of 123.275 points.

2nd//Roberto Zelaya//L-39 Albatross
Th is Tomahawk Aviation 1/3.5-scale L-39
Albatross features the French Top Gun Aerobatics
scheme and has a span of 108 inches. Roberto’s
L-39 is powered by a Behotec 220 turbine, and he
used a Jeti DS-24 radio system to earn a fi nal score
of 123.025 points.

PRO-AM JET CLASS
Pilots in this class must have already placed (twice!) in the
top three spots of an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)
competition or in the top 30 percent of a Top Gun field. Each pilot
is awarded 25 static points for showing scale documentation;
this is added to the average of the best three (out of four) flight
rounds for the total score. This year, there were 14 pilots entered
in the class.


3rd//Rob Lynch//F-16
Th is 1/5-scale BVM model has a 72-inch
span, is 120 inches long, and is powered by a
Jet Central turbine engine. Rob fl ew the F-16
using a Spektrum DX20 radio to earn a fi nal
score of 122.725 points.

Top Gun Scale Invitational


4th//Marco Benincasa//F-16
A loaner from BVM, this 1/5-scale jet has
a span of 72 inches and is 120 inches long.
Th e F-16 is powered by an evoJet 220X
turbine engine, and Marco used a Futaba
18MZ to earn a fi nal score of 122.675 points.
