Attendees were able to enjoy truly unique experiences during
a variety of events and parties organised throughout the
yacht show, while on Wednesday 8 May the winners of the
Chefs’ Competition were announced in a farewell celebration
at the MEDYS Lounge. The event was followed by a party for
the crews, organised by the Hellenic Yacht Crew Association
(HYCA) with the support of the GYA.
The MEDYS is organised by the GYA with the support of the
Municipality of Nafplion, under the auspices of the Greek
Ministry of Tourism. Given the growing and complicated
needs of organising such a show, a successful outcome
would not be possible without the direct and continuous
support of the different departments of the Municipality of
Nafplion. The MEDYS also has the support of the Prefecture
of Peloponnese.
Those were the words of Mr. Michael Skoulikidis, President
of the GYA, to OnDeck. He continued, saying:
“To date that is, as there is always room for improvement and
when you have succeeded in becoming the largest char-
ter show in the world as far as the number of participating
yachts is concerned, the time has come to work even harder
to retain that position and find new ways to make the experi-
ence even more productive for all attendees.
In 2019 there were more than 100 yachts on display, rang-
ing from 24 to 85 metres, and over 450 visitors from 31
countries. That translates into a lot of global attention for the
Greek yachting industry and contributes significantly to the
growth of the sea tourism sector.
In a time span of just 6 years, the MEDYS has claimed the
no.1 spot among the B2B events of its kind. This is a result
that makes the Greek Yachting Association (GYA) very proud
but we are also very aware of our responsibility.
We will come together once again, keep closely together,
and work effectively together, in order to ensure that the
2020 MEDYS is (if not bigger as we have exhausted the port’s
capacity) even better!”
THIS YEAR’S MEDYS
WAS SIMPLY THE BEST
