Remove the piston stop, then divide the figure on the gauge by two (in our case
23.2°), then rotate the flywheel in a clockwise direction until this figure is shown
on the Buzzwangle-O-Meter. Make a mark on the case in line with the arrow on
the flywheel; this is TDC (top dead centre).Once the gauge is reading zero, rotate the flywheel in a clockwise direction until
the piston once again hits the stop. Hold it against the stop and note the reading
- in our case 46.4°.
The Buzzwangle has a magnetic base that allows it to sit on the adapter. Rotate
the flywheel anti-clockwise again until it hits the stop, then press the on/off
button twice to turn it on and zero it.To stop the adapter coming loose or moving, there’s a small Allen-headed setscrew
that needs to be tightened-up. Take care not to over-tighten.
The Buzzwangle-O-Meter adapter can now be fitted to the flywheel. Note the
adapter has four different size threads, so pick the one that matches your
flywheel and screw it into position.
With the stop in place, gently turn the flywheel anti-clockwise until it hits the
stop; do not force it onto the stop as you’ll mark or damage the top of the piston.
In place of the spark plug you’ll need to fit the piston stop (an adjustable stop
that’s included in the kit and simply screws into the spark plug hole). You’ll need
You’ll also need to remove the spark plug, so carefully pull-off the plug cap and, to extend the stop, so it stops the piston going through a full rotation.
using a spark plug spanner, undo the plug and remove completely. If the engine
has been previously run, take care as the plug will be hot.
