Tesco to cut 4,500 jobs across

stores nationwide

Staff will be offered alternative roles where possible, firm says (PA)

Tesco has said it will slash around 4,500 jobs as part of measures to “simplify and reduce processes and
administrative tasks” mainly across its Metro stores.

Although the measures are focused on all of Tesco’s 153 Metro stores, some changes will also be made to
134 of its Express stores and to some large stores, the company said yesterday.

Staff will be offered alternative roles within Tesco where possible, with around 4,500 employees expected
to lose their jobs, after taking into account those that are reallocated.
