WHAT’S GOING ON

GENERAL LICENCES SORTED!

On Friday 14th June 2019 Defra (Department of the Environment,

Fisheries and Rural Affairs) released three new General Licences to

replace the old ones issued by Natural England. Not much has changed

at all, and we are now free to carry on as before. Make sure you visit:

https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/bird-licences and read

through the terms and conditions of each Licence BEFORE you go out

shooting. The three new Licences are:

GL 34 General Licence to kill or take certain species of wild birds to

conserve wild birds and flora or fauna.

Species covered: Carrion Crow, jackdaw, jay, magpie, rook, Canada

goose, Egyptian goose, monk parakeet, ring-necked parakeet, sacred

ibis and Indian house-crow

GL 35 General Licence to kill or take certain species of wild birds to

preserve public health or public safety.

Species covered: Carrion crow, jackdaw, magpie, feral pigeon, rook,

Canada goose and monk parakeet

GL 36 General Licence to kill or take certain species of wild birds to

prevent serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops,

vegetables, fruit, growing timber, fisheries or inland waters.

Species covered: Carrion crow, jackdaw, magpie, feral pigeon, rook,

woodpigeon, Canada goose, Egyptian goose, monk parakeet and

ring-necked parakeet

SOUTH YORKSHIRE SHOOTING

SHOW & GAME FAIR

This exciting show is in its 6th year and will be

held indoors and outdoors at the Doncaster

Exhibition Centre at Doncaster Racecourse on

28th & 29th September 2019. The event is

designed to combine the best of shooting and

hunting equipment with a country fair show. It

includes activities that the whole family can

enjoy, including an airgun range, archery,

shooting simulator and optics viewing area. The

show also represents a great opportunity to learn

about game and wildlife conservation in the UK.

There will be over 100 exhibitors which will

include major manufacturers and retailers of

rifles, shotguns, airguns, optics, accessories,

clothing, fishing gear and much more. There

will be clay pigeon shooting, which includes a

40 bird shooting competition for adults, with

the winner of each day receiving a cash prize!

For children under 16, there will be a separate

competition if they shoot both days; the

highest scorer will receive a Yildiz shotgun

courtesy of Raytrade UK Ltd.

On the Friday evening before the show,

there will be the opportunity to attend a Night

Master night-vision and thermal-imaging.

Everybody who attends will get a half-price

ticket for the show! BASC members who pay

on the day will receive a £5 discount on

production of a valid membership card. Visit
