Our Slim project bike has
been fitted with another
important upgrade – a
custom-built Ikon 3610
Series shock absorber and
Brum says, “The difference
in ride comfort and the
improvement in handling
with this shock is quite
astounding.”
The 3610 shock features
4-position rebound damping
and screw adjustable preload
which makes dialling in
different settings for varying
ride and road conditions, or
carrying a passenger, very easy.
It’s fitted with a progres-
sive rate spring and according
to Ikon it’s valved to provide
a more comfortable, “less
harsh” ride than the standard
suspension.
Improved rideability and
on-road behaviour are the
primary goals. Each shock is
built and sprung to suit individ-
ual rider weight and the desired
ride height meaning they are
particularly suitable for riders
lower to the ground.
They are available in a
range of sizes that mirror the
three different length shocksHarley-Davidson fit to their
various Softail models. Longer
or shorter length shocks can be
built to order.
The unit fitted to our Slim
has raised the ride height by
1inch and increased cornering
clearance noticeably, as well
as improving the ride. It also
improved roadholding and
cornering stability.The fitting process was done
at Ikon and took around 40
minutes.
Ikon 3610 Series springs are
available in black or grey and a
range of standard lengths from
$777rrp. Custom colours, ride
heights and fitting might be a
little extra.
