What was your most memorable celeb-
rity encounter at CBS? “Jill’s boy toy at
the time, Sean, asked his friend in the music
business, Lionel Richie, to sing a love song
to her to convince Jill not to break up with
him. Lionel was such a sweet, lovely man.
One of my greatest honors was also meet-
ing Muhammad Ali, who was a huge fan
of Y&R and a friend of Don Diamont [ex-
Brad; Bill, B&B].”
What was your klutziest moment on
the set? “When they have me sit on the
step between the entry foyer and the living
room of the Chancellor mansion, because
whenever there’s a knock on the door, they
expect me to get up quickly and it’s never a
pretty sight.”
Where do you hide your script pages
when you’re on set? “All depends what
set I’m working on. In the Abbott house,
my hiding place is behind the couch, and
in the Chancellor mansion, I hide my
scripts in the umbrella stand by the front
door.”
Which is your favorite set? “The
original Chancellor set because I have so
many memories of working with Jeanne
[Cooper, ex-Katherine] and Kate [Linder,
Esther] and laughing my face off. I also
really love the Abbott living room because I was the grande mistress of that home for
many years with Jerry [Douglas, ex-John]. Jill loved lording it over Mamie, which
was quite fun to play. Loved working with Veronica Redd Forrest.”
Ever have a wardrobe malfunction? “There was one time they couldn’t find the
ring that Phillip Chancellor gave Jill. It was very important in the story at the time, so
I had to hide my hands during the entire scene.”
