Dear Shane, I think the answer is right under your

nose, but you’re just not seeing it because you’re

too close.

Conversations with God says that the only time is

Now and the only place is Here. NowHere. Science

is proving that time is a human construct because

it measures differently in outer space than here on

Earth. But far too often we ruminate about the past

or the future, at the expense of the present moment.

When we can remember to be fully conscious right

when/where we are, there is a gift (a present) that

will present itself. Interesting, isn’t it: same word,

three totally different meanings!

LIVE IN THE PRESENT, TO SEE WHAT

PRESENT THE PRESENT PRESENTS!

That last day you played the game you so dearly

love, you made a decision to savor every single

moment. I would invite you to share that story with

your son and daughter, and offer them this advice:

Cherish every moment you’re on that soccer field

and dance floor as if this could be the very last

time you get to do something you love. Because,

the truth is, we never know when the very last

moment will be. Life comes along sometimes and

does this major course correction, which occa-

sionally involves moving us up our evolutionary

ladder, leaving something we dearly loved behind.

Dear Annie...

From Conversations with God what advice would you suggest I give my son

and daughter to help them both perform to their very best this weekend? Our

son is competing in a big soccer tournament and our daughter is in a big

Irish Dance competition.

I remember when I decided to leave football, I told my wife, “Today is my last

day playing the sport I love, and no matter what, I am going to play my

very best game today.” Little did I know, I was going to be nearly knocked

unconscious during the game, but as soon as I hit the ground, I got right

back up (to everyone’s surprise) as I knew this was it, and after today it was

over!

I really believe I stumbled upon a secret that day, and I truly wish I could

somehow pass this on. Believe it or not, years later, people still talk about how

well I played that day against one of the best teams in the championship.
