St Tropez

VISCOUNTESS Emma
Weymouth soaks up the
sun in St Tropez before
rehearsals begin for Strictly.
The 33-year-old, who runs
Longleat Safari Park in
Wiltshire with her husband
Ceawlin Thynn, 45, was
spotted splashing about in
the sea at Le Club 55 on the
French Riviera.
Emma, who is on holiday
with her family, said she
was looking forward to “an
amazing experience” on

Strictly. “I can’t wait for the
dancing and the fabulous
outfits,” she added.
She is the eighth celebrity
to join the contest which will
be broadcast in the autumn.
Emma was born in the UK
to a British mother and
Nigerian father and studied
history of art at University
College London.
She married Viscount
Weymouth in 2013 and they
have two sons John, four, and
two-year-old Henry.

Excited...Alex Scott, 34

Footie Alex to have ball on Strictly

STRICTLY’S new signing Alex Scott
will put her football punditry on the
back-burner as she looks to dazzle on
the dance floor.
The ex-England player is popular
on Match Of The Day and Football
Focus. But her appearances will be
limited for the rest of the year to allow
for gruelling rehearsals.
Alex, 34, said: “I am absolutely
buzzing to be signed up to Strictly. It’s
the show I’ve always wanted. I can’t
believe I’m going to be part of it. I’m
super excited, but also terrified.”
An FA Women’s Cup and Premier
League winner, she added: “The foot-

ball pitch is a bit less glam than the
ballroom, but I’m ready to try the
sequins and dresses. Bring it on!”
Since retiring in September 2017,
she has had a successful TV career
on BBC and Sky Sports.
The other celebrity signing yester-
day was Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin. TV
host Anneka Rice and Olympic rower
James Cracknell are tipped to be
named today. Among those already
revealed are David James, Emma
Barton, Catherine Tyldesley and
Mike Bushell.

Virgin’s help for elderly

ELDERLY and disabled customers
are being given a helping hand to
get the best deals on offer under a
new company drive.
Virgin Media is taking steps to make
sure engineer visits are adapted with
customer needs in mind and annual
package reviews are tailor-made for
those who need it most.
Bill management advice and a
Talk Protected Plan, launched in
2016, keeps prices fixed for
vulnerable customers.
It is hoped the plans will help

ensure people who struggle to shop
around don’t get left behind in a
competitive UK telecoms market.
Jeff Dodds, chief operating officer
at Virgin Media, said: “Businesses
shouldn’t be sitting on their hands
about this important issue, which is
why we are going the extra mile to
make sure those who might need a
helping hand can get it. I hope this
will encourage other businesses to
follow in our footsteps.”
