Completed in 1928, after an

earlier version was destroyed

by fire, the Goetheanum

in Dornach – home to the

School of Spiritual Science

and the Anthroposophical

Society – was designed

by Austrian architect and

thinker Rudolf Steiner

as a place from which to

spread his teachings. Known

for its remarkable volumes

and sculptural fluidity,

it was one of the largest

reinforced concrete buildings
