perhaps I am wrong to put it in
the contemporary toy category,
but I presume it was produced
at the same time as the real car.

PILEN – SEAT Ritmo
I would describe this model
as 1:55ish. Versions I’m aware
of come in metallic blue,
yellow and as a white
‘POLICIA’ car with a roof box.
If you visit http://swiftysgarage.
net/topic/7500509/1/ you can
find pictures of what seem to
be dark green and yellow pre-
production colour trial models.
Like the Ibertren version,
and many other Ritmo/Strada
models, the Pilen version
extends the base upwards to
form the distinctive front and
rear bumpers (interestingly,
the base/bumpers on the two
metallic blue Pilen Ritmos
I have are in different shades of
grey). The model, which

represents a four-door car,

sports opening front doors

and, although it’s really only

made as a toy, I’d say it is a

reasonably good representation

of the actual vehicle.

GUISVAL – SEAT Ritmo

Slightly larger than the Pilen,

this model, again representing

a four-door car, also features

opening front doors. It’s not

a bad little offering but shape

wise is a bit too narrow. There

are many different versions

to seek out. I doubt anybody

has catalogued them all and

I would be most surprised if

anybody had managed to get

a complete collection! Plain

colours include blue, metallic

bronze, red, white and yellow.

Other versions

include those with

‘S AUTOPISTA’ (auto-

pista = motorway) and

‘PATROLIA’ (patrolia = patrol)

labels on their sides and

rooflights fitted, and those

in a number of other liveries-

rally schemes, etc.

GUILOY – SEAT Ritmo 75CL

We know Guiloy’s four-door

model is a 75 CL as that's the

badging that appears on its

front wings. It’s really not a

very good representation,

though, being far too wide for

its length and height. The front

doors open, and the moulded

diecast baseplate incorporates

the drive shaft, exhaust,

etc, but I suspect not very

realistically.

Although I believe there to

be many differently finished

versions of this model, the

limited results from

internet searches

I have run

suggest all may

be relatively scarce. I have so

far managed to acquire two

examples: one finished in plain

red and the other sporting a red

rally scheme and carrying race

number 3 and Marlboro

sponsorship. I am also aware

of a plain apple green version, a

metallic forest green one with

the same decals as my red rally

car, and shocking pink, metallic

silver and yellow examples

featuring various different

decals. Some photographs

posted online show the decals

which have applied crookedly,

so they could well be owner

rather than factory-fitted.

The decals on my

red version are

fairly neatly

applied,

but

Pilen’s approx.

1:55 scale SEAT

in its metallic blue

and ‘POLICIA’

finishes.

unfortunately far too wide for its

length and height. The front doors

car and features opening front doors. As well as those illustrated here, there are

many different versions to seek out.
