Think warmth,

not darkness

Most of us use bronzers

to add darkness to our face,

but Espinal points out that

they’re actually designed to “create

warmth”. So, instead of picking

a darker shade, choose one with an

undertone that reflects the colour your

skin goes after a day on the beach.

Tap, don’t sweep

If your bronzer leaves

your foundation patchy,

it’s because you’re not

applying it correctly,

according to Espinal: “If you’re

sweeping your bronzer, you’re just

moving the product from one side

to another.” Instead, he advises

tapping off excess product and

gently stippling the bronzer into

the desired places. “That way

everything will naturally diffuse.”

Go all year round

Plot twist: turns out that

if you use bronzers to

add warmth rather than

darkness, you can wear

them even when the actual sun is

a distant memory. Just make sure you

switch to a lighter, less ruddy shade.

Tone it down

that happens, I go over it all with a

It blurs everything out,” says Espinal.
