W
alford men are dropping
like flies. As Phil Mitchell is
hooked up to a bleep-bleep
machine in hospital after
being viciously attacked, Mick Carter
keels over this week while refereeing
a kiddies’ football match.
Mick’s collapse isn’t entirely
unsurprising and comes after
The Vic landlord has had ‘agg’ from
all angles. First off, he’s called on to
referee a different kind of match –
one of the slanging variety, between
his missus Linda and Ruby.
Our Walford mole says, ‘Ruby
has kicked off at Honey for playing
loud music in her flat, but it turns out
Janet was to blame. Ruby feels awful,
knowing Janet has Down’s syndrome,
and gives her a present to say sorry.
‘Linda overhears, and thinks Ruby is
treating Janet differently
because she has a learning
disability. It’s a very
sensitive subject for
her, given that her
own child, Ollie, is
most likely autistic.’
As a row
escalates, Mick
arrives and soon
manages to defuse
it. But just when
it seems calm has
been restored, he
causes Ollie to
become involved
in a worrying
incident, which
prompts Linda
and Shirley
to give him
a mouthful.
From thereon in, it’s one thing after
another. Linda’s on his case about their
finances, Mitch is badgering him about
refereeing a match, and Tina relies on
him when she has a crisis at The Prince
Albert. Mick’s happy to help, but
when he returns to a packed
Vic, he gets it in the neck
for abandoning ship.
In a bid to shake off
his worries, he decides
to go for a run. Bex spots
him struggling, and her
concerns grow when she
then sees him in the cafe,
clearly in pain.
Carrying on as
normal, The Queen Vic
landlord later dons his
trackie and heads off
to do his refereeing
duties. It’s just
Walford kids against
a local side, but as
Mick soon discovers,
dealing with a group
of young’uns is no
walk in the park.
Our mole adds,
‘The atmosphere
gets really tetchy,
and one of the
children is
injured. Everyone
turns on Mick,
and to everyone’s
horror, he
then suddenly
collapses.’
Has Mick had
a heart attack?
And if so, will he
pull through?
