meet some ‘sexy singletons’
looking for love. Can their

a temptation? All episodes

The Mind of Herbert Clunkerdunk
● COMEDY / from 10pm / BBC2 (NI, Thursday)
NEW
If you like your TV comedy to be
surreal, silly and short, don’t miss
this returning series of four quirky new
episodes – all just 10 minutes long. Last
year’s BAFTA-nominated pilot introduced
us to childlike aspiring actor Herbert
(Spencer Jones) and his weird imagination,
which includes talking household objects
and bizarre musical interludes. The series
features some new faces, including an
annoying couple who live on Herbert’s
street, while there’s a welcome return for
his eye-popping neighbour Jonny (Dom
Coleman), plus special guests. This week’s
two episodes see Herbert get the chance to
record an audition tape for a big musical.
Could this be his breakthrough? All episodes
are available on BBC iPlayer. ★★★★ RMC
Shark Week
● DOCUMENTARIES / from 3pm / Discovery
NEW
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in
the water – Discovery has a host of shows about
the magnificent predator. Isle of Jaws: Blood Brothers,
follows experts as they try to prove a new theory about
great white shark behaviour. The feature-length
Capsized: Blood in the Water, starring Josh Duhamel,
tells the true story of what happened to the crew of a yacht
stranded in the Atlantic. Also look out for Tiger Shark
Invasion, filmed on the Galapagos Islands. ★★★★ JL
Expedition with Steve Backshall
● FACTUAL / 8pm / Dave
‘That is the closest I’ve ever been to
drowning. It’s not nice,’ admits a visibly
shaken Steve as he emerges from the white
water rapids that very nearly took his life.
In a tense episode, adventurer Steve and
his team are attempting to kayak down an
unexplored canyon in Bhutan at the foot of
the Himalayas. Towards the end of day one
he is trapped underwater, spinning
uncontrollably and unable to get out. It’s
only the quick thinking of his teammate Sal
Montgomery that saves him from death.
Steve’s commitment to showing us a world
no one has seen before is extraordinary –
the danger is very real and Steve is very
brave and extremely lucky. ★★★★★ JL
