A

YOUNG chap called
Eddie Wills contacted
me the other day to ask if
Angler’s Mail could promote
his new day ticket venue,
called Magna Lakes, in
Sheepy Magna.
Eddie and his partner
Darren Reynolds took over
the pools, which are in
beautiful countryside near
Atherstone, in Warwickshire,
from Trout Ponds Farm last
winter, and have worked
tirelessly, refurbishing and
renovating the place, which
opened in April.
The pools were dug by
monks many years ago, and
there were originally three,
but two pools have now
been made into one ten-peg
syndicate Woodland Lake,
with seven members, but
they are looking for 20, for an
annual cost of £240.
The carp go to 25 lb, with
a couple of unknown bigger
fi sh, and they are looking to
stock two 30s this winter.
Day ticket Monks Pool is
£10 for two rods; 24 hours
£20, and along with carp also
has bream to 8 lb, tench of

Magna-ificent new water

4-5 lb, roach to 2 lb, perch to
1 lb, and plenty of skimmers
and gudgeon.
It has 12 pegs, but there is
room for 15 anglers, and it is
available for match bookings
and night fi shing. An annual
ticket is £120; £90 for OAPs.
There’s a new car park,
excellent wooden walkways,
just a short walk to your peg

with a trolley, and
on-site toilets. The place looks
immaculate and very inviting.
Check out their Facebook page.
They have lots of ideas for
the future, and are keen to
encourage families and school
parties to visit. Tel: Eddie
on 07891 022337 or Darren
Reynolds on 07973 830708.
Sat nav: CV9 3RT.

Avon barbel.

Birmingham Canal with roach
and skimmers.
