could experience the products. All the
four sections have matching ceiling, dual
floorings and a chandelier each.”

Large chandeliers, leather chairs and fabric
upholstered chairs give the space the
grandiose and opulent feel that PN Rao is
synonymous with. The combination of blue
and beige colours of the company logo is
extended to all the furniture. The furniture
and its colour are of course changed to suit
the region.

The store décor is further enhanced by
sleek metal fixture, well planned lighting
and strong visual merchandising. There
is also a history wall in the suit section
which narrates the journey of PN Rao
from 1920s onwards. The suit section also
has a mannequin hotspot which displays
the latest range. The store also has a 200
sqft lounge area for VIP customers with
an attached fitting room and classic-cum
-modern seating arrangements, antique
looking console, large mirrors, chandelier
and silver wall paper. The fitting room also
has a motorised curtain.

Speaking about the challenges encountered
in the store design, Naveen Pishe, said, “We
faced a challenge in creating the VIP lounge
as we did not want to make it too opulent.
But at the same time, we wanted to create
a plush feeling in the space. Sunil achieved
a nice combination by placing handwork
mirrors, antique console and blue coloured
sofas. The wallpaper and a small chandelier
on add to the effect. We have created a fairly
luxurious VIP lounge room but minus the
over-the- top opulence. We did not want
to intimidate the middle-class customer
customers, but at the same time, we wanted
the billionaire to feel comfortable and at
home. That’s the balance we tried to achieve.”

While revealing the future plans, Pishe
further summed up, “We will continue to
expand at a steady pace, but we are not in
any kind of hurry right now. We have set
our eyes on Pune, Kolkata, Coimbatore and
Cochin. Currently we are present in three
cities where we are considered a regional
brand. Over a period of time we want to
expand to other markets.” l

The brand wanted to convey that they are a
traditional bespoke suit making company.
The idea was to retain the traditional look,
while giving it a modern look at the same
time. We tried to achieve a balance between
the two to cater to different generations.
We also wanted to make the space friendly
and inviting for all the customers
