Tracing its incorporation back to 1876, the town of Waynes-
boro owes its beginnings to the bustling rail system con-
structed by the Mobile and Ohio Railroads. As the company
built a railroad station in what is now known as Waynes-
boro, the first families to call the region home planted roots
as early as the late 1850s. The town continues to honor the
vital role of the rail system in its history and its future.
As with many small towns, a vibrant town center area
hosts several shops and eateries. With local favorites such
as Hutto’s Furniture and Gift Gallery, Southern Roots,
and Tiny Tots Children’s Boutique, one can easily enjoy a

ern hospitality at every turn. Hutto Furniture, now owned
by a third-generation family, offers an array of stylish fur-
niture and modern home décor. Stocked with a variety of

candles, and more, this is a favorite of brides wishing to

be a line of cars, and I would recognize it immediately. They
were right. Mississippi Fried is unlike any place I have ever
seen. With all the conveniences of a modern fast-food es-
tablishment, including a drive-thru window, Mississippi
Fried offers tasty food in a down-home atmosphere.
As the name implies, there are plenty of options for fried
food. Local favorites include the wing plate and chicken
fingers, both served with a choice of sides. I opted for the
