old-fashioned hamburgers, bologna sandwiches, and
more for three generations. I was greeted by the friendly
staff, most of whom have been cooking for and serving
customers for decades, who were more than happy to tell
me about the food and the culture that have put Cooley’s
on the map for travelers from across the country.
Waynesboro surprised and delighted me. There is so
much to do, and time passed too quickly as I found myself
in conversation with one interesting person after another
at each venue. People are friendly, and the small-town
charm is genuine. Another great benefit is that Waynes-
boro is easy to get to, with two major highways leading
you into town. Whether you make a plan to attend one of
the festivals or decide to stop in for a while during your
next road trip, you will find this is one town that is not far
off the beaten path, and it is packed full of fun and exciting
people and places.M
