was loaded down with sweet treats
ranging from animal crackers and
whoopee pies to candy necklaces
and gummy bears. “It was everything
our parents and dentists wouldn’t let
us have as kids,” McRae says. “So we
went for it, and then some.”
More than 300 guests, all dressed
in white, made their way into the mu-
seum for this special night. Highlights
of the evening included a silent auc-
tion, raffles and live music. “I loved
watching people walk in and see
something unexpected around every
corner,” McRae says. “There was so
much detail—it just never stopped!”
The event raised about $200,000
for Friends of Children’s Hospital’s
efforts to provide the best possible
experience during hospital stays for
patients and their families. The orga-
nization has committed to raising $20
million to go toward the expansion-
focused capital campaign for Chil-
dren’s of Mississippi, the umbrella
organization that includes Batson
Children’s Hospital and all University
of Mississippi Medical Center pediat-
ric care around the state.
“It is absolutely thrilling to have
such support from the community,”
says McRae. “Here’s my favorite part
of Mississippi: all you have to do is ask.
When you do, they open arms, they
show up, and you get the best. The
2018 Enchanted Evening was amaz-
ing. We came together and saw how
small the world really can be, and we
had a grand time and an adventure.”
The 2019 BankPlus Presents
Enchanted Evening, with a
theme of “The Greatest Show,”
will take place August 24 at the
Mississippi Museum of Art.
