Harian,New Sunday Times, andThe Star.
Jamila’s achievements as an artist has also
been broadcasted as documentaries on
local television stations such as TV1, TV9,
and TV3.
Recognising such achievements to be
an important source of inspiration to
many families coping with special needs
children, Noorhashimah has documented
both her and Jamila’s stories in a book
titledMy Journey with ArtJamila Part 1:
From Nonverbal to Artistry. The book has
been featured and sold at international
book fairs such as The London Book Fair
and Book Expo America in New York, and
will also be included at upcoming fairs in
Frankfurt, Germany; Sharjah, UAE; and
Guadalajara, Mexico.
A very important piece called ‘Unity
in Diversity’ has been selected by our
current government to be showcased as
a printed image on ARCA PUTRAJAYA at
Putra Square, Putrajaya, which will soon be
launched by the Prime Minister himself.
Jamila’s star continues to shine
brightly with Noorhashimah being
her guiding light. When asked about
her own personal struggles in dealing
with an autistic child, she replied that
it was a learning process for her just
as much with Jamila. She recalled how
her biggest lesson in taking care of her
daughter was not to lead her, but to
adapt to her. She details how mothering
Jamila has thought her to understand
things from a different perspective, and
how willpower determines success no
matter the age. This is evident in not
just Jamila’s life, but also in her youngest
child, Jemima, having become a writer at
the age of 14 after producing a beautiful
published children’s story titled ‘In
Harmony Together: Harmony in the Eyes
of an Autistic Child,’ using Jamila’s art
as illustrations.
To date, Jamila has sold over 90 original
paintings to collectors in Malaysia, and
Switzerland whose autism headquarters
operate as international leaders in the
development and delivery of clinical
intervention services and training. Her
collectors include royalty, CEOs, Presidents
of companies, and her commissioned
works are now displayed in 5-star hotels
such as the Sheraton Petaling Jaya.
Noorhashimah continues to lead her
children to unimaginable heights while
undergoing chemotherapy, and that in
itself, is a story for the ages.
ArtJamila’s home gallery is located at
