Lewis & PartnersThe generously-sized bath from
Bathstore is the perfect place for a
relaxing soak. Christina liked the Fired
Earth mosaic tiles she’d used in the
kitchen so much that she couldn’t resist
using them in this bathroom toopieces. An old oak chest was
given a new lease of life with
whitewash, and a favourite
French-style armchair was
reupholstered in coastal-
themed fabric. ‘It all works
together well and I’m pleased
with the result,’ she says.
Now that the renovation of
the apartment is complete,
Christina has found a new
interest and has recently
taken up painting. ‘I’ve always
wanted to paint and now that
my children are all grown up,
I’ve got lots more time on my
hands,’ she says. Several of her
canvases hang on the walls,
along with those of Simon her
son, who’s an artist and fabric
designer, and her friend Tina
Stokes, a local artist.
Christina doesn’t have to
look very far for ideas for her
paintings, as the view from her
window is a constant source of
inspiration. ‘The sea is always
changing, every minute of
every day – there are boats setting sail,
or coming into shore, birds and wildlife,
and the ever-changing reflections of the
sunlight on the water. Living this close to
the sea is really so amazing, and I’m just so
pleased we moved here.’ YH
