Cockatiel
The Australian native Cockatiel with “cheddar cheeks,” the round red-orange
patches on both the ears, can live up to 25 years in captivity. The cheeks
of an adult male are more vibrant than that of the females. The erect crest
represents emotional state of the bird that prefers company of their mates
or flocks. The heavy beak of this Australian parrot, a favorite pet, helps in
cracking nuts.336
